Chronology

A female Afghanistan veteran who is in a mysterious relationship with her best friend who died in the Army returns to the family’s ancestral lake house with her Vietnam vet grandfather. Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris previously starred together in the film Gone Baby. Gone (2007). I saw this at SXSW 2024, and it was the best movie there (above). It’s based on a true story. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made me think more about veterans and the challenges they face when they return from war. I’ll try not to give too much away and spoil it for others, but if you’re going to see this – please keep a box of tissues nearby! The acting is incredible – with the likes of Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris, you can’t go wrong. Some of the other actresses/actors aren’t as familiar to me, but I definitely know their names now! They are fantastic. A must-see film with a very important message for the audience.
