There’s a lot of 3M Command™ tape in the kitchen of Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment. This is no later than 1991. 3M debuted its first Command™ product in 1996. In this heartbreaking and fascinating story, there are two monsters, but they are not Erik (Cooper Koch) and Lyle (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), but Jose (Javier Bardem) and Kitty (Chloë Savigny).

I will not delve into the legal aspects of this case, because this is not a documentary, but a drama series. But let me start by saying that if Erik and Lyle were Erika and Lyla – the two daughters – they would never have spent a day in prison. This does not mean that Erik and Lyle were innocent, but the extenuating circumstances were so overwhelming and convincing that they should have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for intentional manslaughter. Then there is Dominic Dunne (Nathan Lane), a vile man who hid celebrity gossip and cocktails.

I want to highlight episode 5 «The Hurt Man»

There are only two characters in the entire scene: Leslie Abramson (Ari Gaynor) and Erik. Director Michael Upendahl places the camera about 40 feet from the table they are sitting at. Abramson has his back to the camera (we never see his face) and to Lyle’s face. The camera slowly, imperceptibly approaches Erik until it passes Abramson and ends with a close-up of Erik explaining the episode’s title.

Nicholas Chavez is also great as Lyle

Thrilling! Cooper Koch does an amazing job throughout, but especially in this episode. Javier Bardem and Chloë Savigny are brilliant as Jose and Kitty.
