Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, housing for workers (man camps), assemble excavators, and drill the wells themselves, especially in remote locations.

A very good two-episode start!

Referenced on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode 44.24 (2022). Billy Bob Thorton (Tommy Norris) is absolutely brilliant in the lead role.

Jon Hamm’s (Monty Miller) character, who owns the company and is Tommy’s boss, may represent my hopefully unfulfilled fears about this growing series

I noticed Jacob Lofland (Cooper Norris) when he was on ‘Justified’ Ali Larter (Angela Norris) as Tommy’s ex-wife and Michelle Randolph (Ainsley Norris), Tommy’s daughter, are unbearable and I already hope the worst happens to them! In short, I fear that creator/writer Taylor Sheridan may go into a bumper sticker mentality and reduce the series to: Big Oil: Bad!

Big Green: Good!

If that happens, I’ll change the rating and be gone!
